Municipal Landfill
The Nome Municipal landfill, operating under permit number SWNON0012000 : 20102MA, is issued for the operation and maintenance of a Class II municipal solid waste landfill, including incinerator ash, and and asbestos to be disposed of in a separate cell. The landfill is located at 3.0 mile Beam Road, near Nome, Alaska.
Hours of Operation:
11:00 am until 5:00 pm Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

Monofill Inert Waste Landfill
The purpose of the Monofill is for the disposal of inert waste including construction and demolition debris, scrap metal, tires, white goods, and vehicles.
A permit for disposal may be obtained at the front desk of City Hall located at:

Hours of Operation:
Monday - Friday, 8:30 am until 4:30 pm.
The Monofill landfill is located on Center Creek Road, approximately 2.5 miles northwest of Nome.
Miscellaneous Information:
- Lead acid batteries are not accepted. Contact the Napa Store for possible recycling;
- greases, paints, contaminated soil are not accepted by the City;
- sewage sludge, septage and honey bucket wastes are disposed of at the NJUS
Wastewater Treatment Plant located on River Street;
- open burning is prohibited at the sites;
- hazardous wastes generated by businesses will not be accepted at either landfill;
- uncontrolled scavenging and salvaging by the public is prohibited;
- Recycling of wastes is encouraged.
