The City of Nome and Alaska Corps District are partnered in the Nome Modification Feasibility Study to analyze and evaluate all aspects of expanding the Port of Nome. The elements of the study include investigating; benefits, costs, design features, cultural and environmental impacts, dredge disposal,sites, sediment transport & wave/current data. 

After extensive investigation and analysis, the Alaska Corps District released the latest draft study report on 31 Dec 2019 for a 30-day public comment period, which has now closed - see press release here

The study report recommends Alternative 8b at -40 ft MLLW  for the project design.
