The City of Nome and Alaska Corps District are partnered in the Nome Modification Feasibility Study to analyze and evaluate all aspects of expanding the Port of Nome. The elements of the study include investigating; benefits, costs, design features, cultural and environmental impacts, dredge disposal,sites, sediment transport & wave/current data. 

After extensive analysis, the Corps released the latest draft study report on 31 Dec 2019 for public comments, with all input due to the Alaska District office by 30 Jan 2020 per the press release available here

The study report is recommending 8b at -40 ft depth for the project design.
