Attendant - Nome Recreation Center
Summary:
Under supervision, performs a variety of duties for the programs and functions of the Parks and Recreation Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists the public in utilizing the Nome Recreation Center ("NRC") or any park or facility that falls under the Parks and Recreation Department's jurisdiction.
- Oversees the use, care, rental and loan of departmental and facility equipment and supplies.
- Monitors patron activities at the NRC, explains and enforces the rules and procedures.
- Recommends changes and additions to program activities and NRC rules and policies.
- Responsible for opening and/or closing facility as required. When appropriate monitors security of the facility.
- Responsible for patron safety.
- Assists in daily close out of cash drawers, receiving funds and maintaining the necessary cash on hand.
- Completes daily reports as required.
- Assists in setting up the facility for daily scheduled activities and special events.
- Monitors, stocks, rotates and sells food service items.
- Monitors, maintains and organizes equipment, cleaning and inventory storage areas.
- Provides routine clean-up, sanitizing and general maintenance of the NRC and NRC equipment and food service areas.

Skills, Abilities, Qualification Requirements:
- Experience working with public preferred. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the general public.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and discounts
- Ability to count money, count back customer change, open and close out the cash register drawer, and fill out appropriate paperwork with cash register.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability ot learn rules and procedures for te use of the NRC facility. Ability to learn methods of money collection and receipting.
- Ability to use good judgment and apply common sense to determine if any activity behavior is safe.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Specific Skills and Abilities to the Job:
Must greet and interact with the public in person or over the telephone in a courteous and professional manner.
Ability to obtain Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification and First Aid certification if offered or required by the Department of Parks and Recreation. Ability to obtain any ohter certification required by the Department of Parks and Recreation. Much be able to work well under pressure.

The employee will be required to work after hours, coordinating with the different department heads to minimize the intrusion of cleaning. The employee's schedule is determined by the City Manager or the designee of the City Manager. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.
