CITY OF NOME – VEHICLE REMOVAL AND STORAGE

The City of Nome is soliciting bids from local tow company operators to remove vehicles (cars and light-duty trucks) from the city right of way during the 2024-2025 winter season in order to facilitate City snow removal operations. These vehicles are either illegally parked or blocking the city right of way because of mechanical breakdown or stuck in the snow.

The successful bidder must provide a fenced and secure location for storage of the vehicles. The bidder must maintain liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 and name the City of Nome as an additional insured. The successful bidder must be able to provide 24-hour availability. The City of Nome estimates that between 25-50 vehicles will be towed a year by the contractor.

The deadline for submission of sealed bids is October 17, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. local time and shortly thereafter the bids will be opened publicly and read aloud.  Bids must be submitted to the City Clerk at the Public Safety Building.  Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope and marked clearly on the envelope as “Bid Enclosed:  City of Nome – Vehicle Removal and Storage” along with the name and address of the Bidder. Faxed submissions are not allowed. 

Bids shall be submitted based on a per vehicle price.  The contract will be awarded to the lowest qualified Bidder as determined by the City.  The City of Nome reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive informalities, and to reject non-conforming, non-responsive, or conditional bids.  Bid forms can be requested from the City Clerk during business hours.
