Landfill
The Nome Municipal Landfill's operating hours are:
- Summer: May 1 to September 30
- 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
- Monday & Wednesday open for Commercial dumping (Fees can be paid in advance at City Hall)
- Free Residential dumping on Saturdays
- Winter: October 1 to April 30
- 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM
- Free Residential dumping on Saturdays
The Nome Municipal Landfill, operating under permit number SW2A012-20, is issued for the operation and maintenance of a Class II municipal solid waste landfill, including incinerator ash, and and asbestos to be disposed of in a separate cell. The landfill is located at 3.0 mile Beam Road, near Nome, Alaska.

- Wood
- Glass
- Metal
- Copper
- Aluminum Cans
- E-Waste
- Cardboard and Shredded Paper
- Refrigerators and Freezers with CFC's - $50.00 each
- Lead acid batteries are not accepted. Contact the Napa Store for possible recycling.
- Greases, paints, contaminated soil are not accepted by the City of Nome.
- Sewage sludge, septage and honey bucket wastes are disposed of at the NJUS Wasterwater Treatment Plant located on River Street.
- Open burning is prohibited at the sites.
- Hazardous wastes generated by businesses will not be accepted at either landfill or monofill.
- Uncontrolled scavenging and salvaging by the public is prohibited.
- Recycling of wastes is encouraged.
The purpose of the Monofill is for the disposal of inert waste including construction and demolition debris, scrap metal, tires, white goods, and vehicles.
